High quality surface finish
Our Optiveil®materials offer
excellent resin uptake, tuneable aesthetic appearance and
exceptionally even fibre distribution. These properties make it the
ideal candidate for use as a surfacing veil to deliver a high
quality, resin rich surface finish to 'Class A' standards. Using
delivers a weight & cost saving; it reduces both the resin
content & amount of paint required as well as reducing or
eliminating the need to grind or polish.
As well as aiding production of a high quality
Optiveil® can impart
functionality to a composite structure, imparting properties to the
composite including EMI shielding, improved electrical &
thermal conductivity, dielectric insulation, corrosion resistance
& abrasion resistance.
Optimat® are suitable
for use in all common composite fabrication systems, from RTM
to pre-preg & thermoforming and by carefully selecting binder
type we can ensure optimal compatibility with resin
- Class A surface finish production -
Optiveil® can provide
a high quality, resin rich surface finish without the use of a gel
coat. The materials can deliver a weight & cost saving by
reducing both the amount of paint or resin content required and the
need to grind or polish.
- EMI shielding of electronics - The
Optimat® metal coated carbon materials
provide high levels of EMI shielding, these mats and veils can be
tailored to meet the required attenuation values at certain
specified frequencies. This technology can be used as it comes or
incorporated into a composite and offers a competitive light-weight
alternative to traditional shielding options.
- Substrates for brake & transmission
applications - Aramid veils and mats make an excellent
substrate for friction products due to their abrasion resistance.
This makes them suitable for use as a coating base for automotive
brake and transmission systems.
