Carbon Veils & Mats

Our range of carbon materials includes veils and mats produced from PAN, pitch and recycled carbon fibre. They offer functionality including electrical and thermal conductivity and EMI shielding, making them suitable for a variety applications from fuel cells to resistive heating. As part of our Optiveil™ and Optimat® ranges the materials are also suitable for use in all major composite fabrication techniques and are compatible with the majority of common resin systems.

We also offer recycled materials produced with recycled carbon fibre. They offer the quality associated with TFP nonwovens in combination with the sustainability of recycled fibres.

Areal weight:   2 g/m² up to 400 g/m²

Binders:          Poly vinyl alcohol (PVA), polyester, co-polyester, cross-linked polyester, styrene acrylic, phenoxy and polyurethane

Typical applications:

  • Carbon veils can produce a high quality, resin rich surface finish without the use of a gel coat. Optiveil™ delivers a weight and cost saving; by reducing paint & resin content and the need to grind or polish.
  • Carbon veils and mats can also be used for EMI shielding in composite enclosures, resistive heating applications and static protection in assembly areas.
  • Optiveil™ lightweight carbon veils are also ideal for use as an adhesive carrier.
  • The electrical conductivity and chemical resistance of carbon veils and mats also make them suitable for use in fuel cell assemblies.

 

Our veils and mats are available in rolls from as narrow as 5 mm up to 1650 mm in width. We also offer the capability to supply materials in sheeted form or as cut shapes.
